Rev. Dr. Otha & Leading Lady Tina Everett
Pastor Otha Everett is a spirit-filled man of God who has always had a deep love and sense of compassion for others. Although best known for his gift of preaching, he also has a background in the area of music where he plays the drums and the gift of singing. Pastor Everett knew there was a calling upon his life and that he could not substitute this call to preach with the music. So, at the age of 24, Reverend Everett accepted his calling to preach the Gospel. He was ordained at the Beulah Baptist Church under the tutelage of his mentor, pastor and grandfather, the late Rev. Matthew Brown. He has served on the ministerial staff as an Associate Minister and Youth Minister at Beulah Baptist Church, Macon. Pastor Everett was later called to serve as the Assistant Pastor of Laurens Hill Baptist Church, Dudley.
In 2003, Rev. Everett was asked to serve as the Pastor of White Springs Baptist Church in Lizella, carrying out all of the duties and responsibilities of God's called Shepherd. He served faithfully as their pastor for five years. In 2008, the Greater Union Baptist Church family confirmed call’s divine appointment and called Reverend Everett as their next Visionary Leader. Pastor Everett came with a sincere desire to administer the church according to Word of God as he preached and taught the Gospel. During his 5 years of service at Greater Union, church attendance begin to grow. More than 15 ministries have been established and/or reorganized under his spiritual guidance.
Pastor Everett’s emphasis on the need for spiritual growth and development through the teaching of God’s Word, has resulted in dramatically increased attendance at Bible Study and Church School. So much so, that a separate session has been established for youth and another for children in Bible Study and Church School which has been expanded to accommodate the participation of all age groups of the Church.
Educationally, Pastor Everett earned a Bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State (College) University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He furthered his studies at Fort Valley State University where he obtained his Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. In 2012, Pastor Everett earned his ED.D in Counseling and Psychology from Argosy University.
